At Yoga For Life, we believe that Yoga goes far beyond being merely a time for exercise. Traditionally, it is a way of life, something that continues to benefit its practitioners, by drawing upon the optimum wellness that it can create in all areas of their life. Following the ancient methods of passing knowledge directly from teacher to student, we focus on teaching a variety of private and semi-private classes, in the comfort of your own home or desired location, ensuring an un-intimidating, safe and injury-free practice. All classes incorporate at the very least, a number of Asanas (the physical practice), Pranayama (breath awareness and breathing techniques) and Relaxation / Meditation. We do not teach our students how to connect their mind, body and spirit, simply because they are already connected. We do, however, empower them by giving them the tools that they can use to remind themselves of this natural connection. When balance and harmony is created within the body, it can easily be carried through to one’s external circumstances, environments and relationships. A tangible way to achieve all of this is by working with the physical body. That is why at Yoga For Life, we follow the principles of Hatha Yoga. Hatha literally means “force” but of the word Hatha can be broken down in to two parts, Ha and Tha –“Ha” symbolizing the solar, masculine energies, the right nostril and the sympathetic side of the central nervous system and “Tha” – the lunar, feminine energies, the left nostril and the parasympathetic side of the nervous system. Through practicing Yoga, we are able to balance these two opposing forces in the bodies (physical, mental, emotional, spiritual bodies). Then, from point of strength and objectivity, we are equipped to face many of the challenges that life may present us with.
“All that we are is the result of what we have thought. We are made of our thoughts.”
